Seikakudo Tokeiten established in an era of emerging industry

In the wake of the Great Depression, our founder Yoshio Tane retired from a leading textile company and founded Seikakudo Tokeiten, the predecessor of our company, in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture.

This era was truly a turning point in the development of an industrialized society where clocks were necessary. In a time when clocks were still expensive, we devised ways to respond to customer needs, such as by establishing a system to allow purchases in installments.

Rebirth as Megane no Miki at the dawn of the television era

In the early 1960s, television replaced radio as the primary method of transmitting mass media. This was the beginning of an information age centered on vision, which continues to this day.

Hiroshi Tane (former chairperson of our company) was one of the first to visit the United States, where he became convinced of the future of eyewear. He decided on a new direction for the store, which sold both eyewear and clocks, transforming it into one that specializes in eyewear only. We have taken on the challenge of solving various problems for our customers in accordance with the times, such as by improving visual acuity assessment, reducing the price of expensive imported frames, and opening suburban stores.

An eyewear technician is defined as a comprehensive expert in eyeglasses who has acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to make and sell eyeglasses tailored to each customer's needs, including by performing eyesight measurement, sales of lens and frame, and eyeglass fitting. This new national certification was established in November 2022 to provide “eye health” to all consumers through the production of eyeglasses.

By turning the experience and technical capabilities of the employees of the Paris Miki Group into a form of national certification, we have been able to provide our customers with assurance and enhanced technical capabilities in an easy-to-understand manner, all while retaining the values that we have upheld as we provide glasses tailored to each customer.

As of November 2023, there were 7,727 ※Skilled Professionals of Spectacle Manufacturing (※ tentative name in English). At 12% of this figure, or 994 eyewear specialists, our group employs the highest number of certified individuals in the industry. Medium-Term Management Plan

On April 1, 2022, we changed our name in Japanese from MIKI HOLDINGS Inc. to PARIS MIKI HOLDINGS Inc. We will continue our efforts to promote awareness of the PARIS MIKI brand and interest in our stock by having the name of the stores visited by customers match the trade name displayed as the listed stock name.

In addition, we have disclosed our medium-term management plan, which is based on our management philosophy since our founding (“firstly, for our customers and their future, secondly, for our associates and their future, and thirdly, for the company and its future”) and additionally aims to further transform the company into one that provides “tokimeki*and anshin**”.

In our main line of business, the eyewear business, we will continue to expand into related endeavors and leverage our experience and aspirations as an optician to take on new challenges, such as by entering fields related to medicine, all without being bound by conventional ways of doing things.
